Prof. Dr. Ieva Plikusienė is a professor at Vilnius University’s Faculty of Chemistry and Geosciences and Faculty of Medicine. Her research focuses on the development of label-free optical and acoustic wave-based biosensors for understanding important diseases. She has 15+ years of experience working in the field of life sciences. In 2021, she received the L’ORÉAL-UNESCO For Women in Science Young Talent award for Lithuania and later earned the prestigious International Rising Talent award in 2022. That same year, she was named Lithuanian Woman of the Year and Citizen of Vilnius. Prof. Dr. Plikusienė has also been recognized with several national honours for her scientific contributions and efforts to elevate Lithuania’s global profile in science. Currently, she is a board member of the UNESCO International Basic Science Programme, the first Lithuanian appointed for this position. Also, she is a board member of Invest Lithuania.
